Why this reward chart works

Small kids can’t picture ‘next week’, but they can absolutely see a row of stars filling up. Naming the goal, agreeing the reward, and adding a sticker each day turns good behaviour into a game with a visible finish line — and a lot less repeating yourself.

How to use it

  1. Print the PDF (US Letter or A4) and write the goal and reward together.
  2. Add a sticker or star each day the goal is met.
  3. Celebrate a full (or nearly full) week — then start a fresh chart for the next goal.

Questions

How is this different from the chore chart?+

The chore chart tracks specific jobs; the reward chart tracks a goal or behaviour you're encouraging — using the potty, kind words, getting dressed — with a reward at the finish line.

What makes a good reward?+

Often it's not a thing — extra story time, choosing dinner, a trip to the park. Pick the reward together so your child actually wants to reach for it.
